Summer Porter \u2018Environmental Champion\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are incredibly proud to shine a spotlight on the outstanding efforts of Summer, a dedicated young person who has made a real difference in raising awareness and inspiring action around environmental issues across the East Riding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summer has shown remarkable initiative, creativity, and leadership in addressing the urgent challenges facing our environment. Passionate about sustainability and protecting our natural world, Summer has been actively involved in community projects that aim to promote greener lifestyles and encourage more environmentally friendly practices.  She has also attended events with partners of the Health and Wellbeing Board to discuss climate change from a young person\u2019s perspective.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of Summer\u2019s most impactful achievements has been the creation of a Young Person\u2019s<\/strong> <\/strong>Environmental Survey<\/strong>, designed to capture the views, concerns and ideas of young people across the region. This survey has played a vital role in giving a voice to the younger generation, highlighting the importance of their perspectives in shaping future environmental policies and initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through thoughtful questions and accessible design, the survey has successfully engaged young people from a range of backgrounds, empowering them to speak up about the environmental issues that matter most to them\u2014from climate change and biodiversity to recycling and green spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to Summer\u2019s efforts, local leaders and community groups will have a clearer picture of what young people in the East Riding care about and how they want to be involved in driving positive environmental change. Summer\u2019s work is not only impressive\u2014it\u2019s inspiring, and it sets a brilliant example of how young people can lead the way in tackling the climate and ecological crisis. We are excited about her recent role on the Yorkshire and Humber Policy Innovation Partnership climate change panel and look forward to seeing how Summer continues to make a difference in the future, and we thank her for the passion, commitment, and leadership she brings to this vital work<\/p>\n\n\n\n
